Things to Consider When Bringing Your Pets To Your Session/Wedding

Something I’m super well known for is my love for animals! Especially when you bring pets to your engagement session or wedding! Here are a bunch of tips for preparing for your session and making sure your pictures go over smoothly!

TREATS. Always, always, always bring treats!

This one is probably a pretty duhhhh one but you can never be too prepared. The best shot you have at getting those cute pups to look in photos and pay attention isssss to bribe them. Once they realize we’re not going on a walk they’re going to be like WAIIITTT A MINUTE.

Location!

Make sure the location you choose is dog friendly! If you’re working with me to pick a spot I’ll only recommend pet friendly locations if I know you’re bringing your pets, but if I’m not your photographer - keep that in mind!

Cute leashes and collars!!!

This is something people ALWAYS say they wish they had remembered. I have some super cute ones on my Amazon list that are great for photos! My pups have the velvet set and a leather set - just for photos!

Make sure you take a long walk before the session!

Get those pups tired before their session! They’ll still get super excited when we get to the session, but they’re less likely to totally freak out if they’ve had a little exercise beforehand.

Consider taking a friend along to the session.

If your pups are like mine and are complete jerks being locked up to a tree and whine like they’re being murdered…bring a friend. This way your friend can either sit in the car with them or walk them around when you don’t want any more photos with them.

Consider bringing a long leash to tie to a tree.

If you don’t have a friend that can come with you consider bringing a longer leash that you can tie around a tree.

Do they have a favorite toy and are they good off leash?

If they have a favorite toy - bring it! This will be guaranteed to get their attention during the session. If they’re good off leash and it’s an area where they don’t need to be leashed it’s not a bad idea to get there a little early and let them run for a few minutes.
